There has been a playgroup at Golcar Providence Church
for more than 30 years. It is registered with the Pre-school Learning
Alliance and also with Ofsted.
We are registered to take up to 26 children from the
age of 2½ up to 5 years old.
Playgroup Session times
Monday Afternoon
12.30 - 3.00
Tuesday
to Friday
9.15 - 11.45
during term time only
Entry to building - A bell has now been fitted to
the front door as it will bolted for the session to help prevent unauthorised
access to the building. This was an issue highlighted whilst completing
the annual risk assessment.
| Playroom
The playgroup is held in a large, airy room well heated in cold
weather. The central area is for large apparatus physical play
while the outer areas provide a quiet area for books and story
time, the computer, the home corner and the messy area all down
one side providing space for water play, painting, activity
table and natural resources, i.e. – peat, oats, clay and sand.

Outdoor Play Area

In Spring 2002 we were able to open a new outdoor play area which will
enable our children to play outside in safely. Weather permitting we
make use of this facility as much as possible, taking out as much
equipment as required for the children's enjoyment.
In July we celebrated the opening of this area with a Silver Jubilee
Party with the help of a grant from Kirklees Metropolitan Council. Outdoors a
bouncy castle was provided along with our own equipment and face painting,
inside was a children's entertainer, who provided fun and games for
everyone. Both areas were decorated
with red balloons and lots of buntings everywhere. The event was
attended by all children and their families. The sun was invited and duly
attended making it a wonderful day for everyone.
